Concordo offers the best in instrumental collaborations, working co-operatively with enthusiasm and dedication, always in an amiable and approachable manner, and above all with the highest artistic principles.
The musicians of Concordo have a passion for choral music and choral-instrumental collaboration. They enjoy imitating the text, adapting to the breathing and phrasing of the voices to make the music come alive. Concordo’s musicians bring a wealth of experience from having worked with a variety of Ontario’s choirs including Toronto Classical Singers, Tafelmusik Choir, Chorus Niagara, Guelph Chamber Choir, Toronto Choral Society, Orpheus Choir and Georgetown Bach Chorale. Concordo can offer both fully modern and period instrument ensembles.
Concordo’s concertmaster, Valerie Sylvester, is known throughout Southern Ontario for her passion and experience in choral-instrumental accompaniment, and her collegial way of working with conductors and their choirs.
“Valerie Sylvester is a joy to work with. With outstanding musicianship and excellent leadership skills, she makes a conductor’s job much easier.”
“For several years now, Valerie has performed as lead violin for Opera York and also has put together a first-rate string section for every production. These musicians work well together and are a joy to collaborate with.”
“It’s such a pleasure to work with string players who know the choral repertoire, and phrase and breathe with singers!
Always flexible, musical and prepared!”
“Valerie and I have been working together professionally for many years. Chief among her many attributes is her dedication to the performance. She always brings a positive attitude and works with me towards the best possible result. I highly recommend her as a player, leader and colleague.”
